RAMALLAH, Wednesday, February 06, 2019 (WAFA) – Suhair Barghouti, 62, whose husband, Omar, and three sons are in Israeli prisons while a fourth son was shot dead by Israeli soldiers in October, was remanded in custody on Wednesday for 72 hours, said the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS).
PPS attorney Munther Abu Rahmeh said the Israeli military court at Ofer camp, near Ramallah, has suspended an earlier decision to release Barghouti on a 6000 Israeli shekels ($1600) bail following an objection by the military prosecutor, who asked to keep her in prison awaiting an appeal to the court ruling.
The military court gave the prosecutor 72 hours to come up with a charge list against Barghouti after the prosecutor has asked for six days.
Barghouti was arrested at her Kobar home, north of Ramallah, on Tuesday. The army raided her home and detained her along with two of her brothers.
Her son, Saleh, was shot dead by the Israeli army in an ambush near Ramallah on December 12. Her husband and three of her sons were also arrested since then. Her son, Assem, is alleged to have shot and killed two Israeli soldiers near Ramallah a day after his brother was killed.
