RAMALLAH, May 27, 2014 (WAFA) – Minister of Economy Jawad Naji and
visiting Chairman of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce of Turkey, Rif’at
Oghlou, signed Tuesday a master plan to establish the industrial zone of Jenin.
During the signing ceremony, which was attended by President
Mahmoud Abbas, Naji said the undertaking Turkish company will shortly embark on
laying the basic internal infrastructure of the industrial zone, while the
external infrastructure will be implemented by the Industrial Estates Authority
under funding from the German government.
Highlighting the importance and job prospects of the new project,
Naji said the soon-to-be-opened industrial zone, to be based in the northern
West Bank city of Jenin, will create around five thousand direct job
opportunities, in addition to 15 thousand indirect jobs which will finally live
up to the increasing demands of the Palestinian labor market.
He added that compensation was reimbursed to the owners of the land
where the project will be implemented.
