RAMALLAH, October 16, 2026 (WAFA) — Several Palestinians and a foreign journalist were injured on Friday in widespread attacks by Israeli colonists on Palestinian residents and olive pickers in the villages of Burqa and Abu Falah and the town of Turmus Ayya, in the central West Bank province of Ramallah.
The attacks, carried out under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, involved live fire, physical assaults, and the burning of vehicles and olive trees. Israeli forces also fired heavy volleys of tear gas at farmers, causing dozens of cases of suffocation.
Local sources said large groups of colonists attacked olive pickers in the al-Nab‘at area of Turmus Ayya, assaulting them and setting fire to three vehicles, olive trees, and a vehicle belonging to Civil Defense volunteers. The colonists also assaulted a Civil Defense volunteer, injuring him.
Several Palestinians sustained injuries in physical assaults, while others suffered from tear gas inhalation.
In Abu Falah, large groups of colonists attacked olive pickers in the eastern part of the village and set olive trees on fire. Israeli forces fired live ammunition and tear gas at residents in an apparent attempt to force farmers off their land.
The Palestine Red Crescent Society said its crews treated two Palestinians who had been beaten by colonists: a 63-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man. Both were transferred to hospital. A Palestinian man was also shot in the thigh, while a foreign journalist was injured after being physically assaulted by colonists.
Israeli forces and colonists renewed their attacks in Abu Falah and Turmus Ayya, with Israeli forces firing heavy volleys of tear gas at farmers, causing dozens of cases of suffocation.
In Burqa, four Palestinians were injured when colonists attacked them while they were harvesting olives in the Khallet Ali area. The Red Crescent said its crews received the four injured Palestinians, who were transported to hospital.
