Colonists assault several Palestinians, torch vehicle in Hebron governorate

HEBRON, October 15, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists on Thursday assaulted several Palestinians and torched a vehicle in the occupied West Bank governorate of Hebron, according to an activist.

Mohammed Awad told WAFA that colonists broke into the Wadi al-Sheikh area of Beit Ummar town, north of Hebron, and beat a Palestinian up.

He added that instead of stopping the assailants, Israeli occupation forces subsequently assaulted and detained the victim

The tun-toting soldiers unleashed barrages of tear gas canisters towards Palestinians’ homes, causing a fire that damaged part of a house. Residents managed to extinguish the fire before it spread to the rest of the house.

In Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, colonists attacked a Palestinian’s home in the Wadi Ajheish area and set his vehicle on fire.

The assailants came from a nearby outpost established on Palestinian-owned land in Wadi al-Rakhim.

In the town of Surif, north of Hebron, colonists, protected by Israeli occupation forces, denied farmers access to their land in Khallat Ghanim to harvest olives.

Colonists’ violence against Palestinians and their property is routine in the West Bank and is rarely prosecuted by Israeli authorities.

Colonists’ violence includes property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes, among others.

Approximately 1 million Israeli colonists are living in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law.
