RAMALLAH, October 9, 2026 (WAFA) – The Central Committee of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) discussed the latest political, security and economic developments in the occupied Palestinian Territory, including the West Bank and Jerusalem, and the serious repercussions of escalating colonist crimes amid an unprecedented wave of terror.
The committee also discussed the difficult humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, continued ceasefire violations, and the limited humanitarian aid reaching the population.
The committee reviewed Palestinian national dialogue and elections, which aim to develop a shared, comprehensive vision for addressing current and future national and political challenges. It stressed that achieving national unity remains a paramount goal, paying tribute to all national factions for the positive spirit they demonstrated in recent days during direct dialogue with Hamas, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Islamic Jihad and other national factions.
It praised the factions’ strong sense of responsibility in confronting the challenges facing the Palestinian national cause and their readiness to work toward unity and counter any attempts to entrench division or establish a political system outside the framework of consensual democratic processes and the ballot box.
With the utmost sense of national responsibility, the Central Committee acknowledged the sincere Egyptian initiative, which reflects the Arab Republic of Egypt’s historic commitment to establishing an independent Palestinian state as a prerequisite for regional stability, world peace and resolving the Arab-Israeli conflict, at the heart of which lies the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
The committee praised Egypt’s sovereign will and paid tribute to the Arab Republic of Egypt, its president, army and people. It reaffirmed its commitment to continuing dialogue with all Palestinian national forces to achieve unity based on a unified political and struggle-oriented vision and a shared understanding of the form of the Palestinian state. It stressed that elections remain a strategic option and the only path to building a national partnership, reiterating its commitment to comprehensive national dialogue under Egyptian auspices.
The committee said it was following with grave concern Israeli attacks against Palestinians, their land and holy sites, from Rafah to Jenin. It called on the international community to move swiftly to impose sanctions on what it described as the fascist occupation and the expansionist, rogue State of Israel.
It said attacks on farmers during the olive harvest, the theft of agricultural crops, and the targeting of people, property, mosques and churches have exposed the occupying state as a perpetrator of state-sponsored terrorism. It added that colonists were carrying out acts of terror under the patronage, funding and encouragement of official Israeli institutions and the Israeli occupation army.
The committee stressed that the time has come to set things right, warning that pressure only breeds explosion. It held the Israeli government fully responsible for the consequences of its policies and its encouragement of such actions. Furthermore, it criticized what it described as the international community’s timid protests against these practices.
The Central Committee also discussed mechanisms for overcoming the exceptional situation within Fatah. It reaffirmed its commitment to ending this situation on the basis of the practical proposals put forward by President Mahmoud Abbas at the Arab Summit and the decisions of the Revolutionary Council, which it said were binding on both the Central Committee and Fatah. The committee decided to form a committee to examine the executive mechanisms for achieving unity within the movement in accordance with those proposals, which had been adopted in a positive spirit and with a sincere desire to achieve that goal.
The Central Committee welcomed the international community’s and European countries’ commitment to positions supporting the rights of the Palestinian people and expressed appreciation for their continued support for Palestine on all fronts. It also thanked Arab and Islamic groups for their steadfast positions and successive decisions in support of the just Palestinian cause.
At the same time, it called on the Arab world to recognize that ensuring the steadfastness of the Palestinian people throughout the Palestinian territories, particularly in Jerusalem, warrants the resumption of financial support. It stressed that the Palestinian people would remain steadfast in their commitment and true to their Arab roots, continuing to defend the central cause of the Arab and Muslim worlds: The Palestinian cause—with unwavering resolve and a deep faith in the justice of their national and political struggle.
