HEBRON, October 8, 2026 (WAFA) — Eighteen Palestinians suffered suffocation on Thursday evening as a result of attacks by Israeli forces and colonists in Hebron Governorate, south of the occupied West Bank.
WAFA correspondent reported that Israeli forces fired tear gas at a home in the Old City of Hebron, causing 11 Palestinians, including women and children, to suffer from suffocation. They were treated at the scene by crews from the Palestinian Red Crescent.
In Um al-Khair village in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron, activist Osama Makhamreh told WAFA that armed colonists, protected by Israeli forces, attacked citizens by spraying pepper gas in their faces. Seven Palestinians, including a foreign solidarity activist, suffered burns and breathing difficulties as a result.
Meanwhile, a group of colonists, protected by Israeli forces, continued for the third consecutive day to besiege the home of Palestinian citizen Yousef Shnaran in Wadi al-Rakhim, in Masafer Yatta, preventing him and his family of 10, including children and women, from leaving the house or accessing it.
WAFA correspondent reported that the colonists established a new outpost directly opposite Shnaran's home four days ago before surrounding the house with his family inside, in an attempt to pressure him into forcibly leaving his home.
