Israeli forces seize homes in Tulkarm suburb, turn them into military posts

TULKARM, October 8, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli forces seized several homes in the Iktaba suburb, east of Tulkarm, and its surrounding area in the early hours of Thursday and turned them into military posts after raiding the area.

A large Israeli military force raided the suburb and deployed infantry units throughout its streets and neighborhoods, taking positions in the eastern part of the area amid searches and sweeps.

WAFA correspondent reported that Israeli forces raided the al-Ayyat family home in Ezbet Abu Bilal in Iktaba and turned it into a military post until 6 a.m. Thursday.

They also raided several homes in the Employees’ Housing neighborhood, including the homes of journalist Moeen Shdeid and his son Ashraf. Shdeid told WAFA that more than 100 soldiers raided his home and neighboring houses, detained his son and wife in a room, prevented him from going to his father’s home, and turned his house into a military post for more than two hours.

Israeli forces also seized the home of Abdullah Abu Qasido in the area of Ahrash Nur Shams refugee camp near Iktaba, forced its residents to evacuate, and turned it into a military post until Thursday morning.

Israeli soldiers were also seen taking measurements of a road in Ezbet Abu Bilal in Iktaba, although the reasons for this remained unclear.

Later, local sources reported that Rabie Fawzi Shahrour, from the town of Bal'a, was taken to Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital in Tulkarm after sustaining injuries when Israeli forces assaulted him on the road linking Bal'a and Deir al-Ghusun, north of the governorate.
