Israeli occupation forces close Ibrahimi Mosque to Palestinians in Hebron

HEBRON, October 3, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli occupation forces today closed the Ibrahimi Mosque and nearby commercial shops in the Old City of Hebron to Palestinians.

The forces tightened military measures and closed all military checkpoints and electronic gates leading to the mosque, citing security arrangements for colonists' celebrations at the mosque and its courtyards.

WAFA correspondent reported that Israeli forces also closed shops in Hebron’s Old City and increased their presence at all entrances leading to the mosque to secure colonists' access to the Old City, the Ibrahimi Mosque and surrounding archaeological sites.

Meanwhile, Israeli colonists attacked the homes of members of the Shnaran family in Wadi al-Rakhim, south of the town of Yatta in southern Hebron province, assaulted residents and set fire to bales of straw belonging to local residents near their homes.

Jewish holidays have repeatedly been accompanied by heightened restrictions on Palestinians in Hebron, including closures, tightened military measures at checkpoints and restrictions on residents’ access to their homes, particularly in the Old City and its surrounding areas.
