JEDDAH, September 28, 2026 (WAFA) – The General Secretariat of the OIC has strongly condemned the storming of the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by extremists in the Israeli occupation government and the continued incursions by colonists and their performance of provocative rituals within it under the protection of the occupation forces.

The OIC considered this a blatant attack on the sanctity of the mosque and a provocation of the feelings of Muslims worldwide.

The General Secretariat reiterated that Israel, the occupying power, has no sovereignty over the Palestinian Territory occupied since 1967, including the city of East Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites.

“All measures aimed at altering its legal, historical, geographical, and demographic status are null and void under international law and relevant international resolutions,” it stressed.

The General Secretariat held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the repercussions of these escalating violations, warning of the danger of igniting a religious conflict that threatens security and stability in the region and beyond.

It called upon the international community to take urgent action to stop these attacks and preserve the existing historical and legal status quo of the holy sites, most chiefly the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.
