LONDON, September 20, 2026 (WAFA) — The Trades Union Congress (TUC), the UK's umbrella body for trade unions, has adopted a motion supporting the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel at its annual congress in Brighton.
The motion, adopted during the TUC's 158th annual congress, calls for legislation banning trade with Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory and for the suspension of the UK-Israel Trade and Partnership Agreement until international law is respected. It also calls for divestment from companies described in the motion as complicit in violations against Palestinians.
The motion further calls for an end to UK military cooperation and arms trade with Israel, as well as wide-ranging sanctions until Israel complies with international law. It also calls for a permanent ceasefire and a peace plan based on international law and successive UN resolutions, including a two-state solution.
The motion was moved by Artists' Union England and seconded by UNISON, with Unite and the National Education Union among its supporters.
The TUC said its 2026 congress was held in Brighton from September 13 to 16.
