Transparency International Chair commends government’s reform efforts, openness and partnership with civil society
RAMALLAH, September 13, 2026 (WAFA) — Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa on Sunday received Transparency International Chair François Valérian at his office in Ramallah, briefing him on progress in implementing the institutional development and reform program, which forms part of the government's action plan.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Transport and Communications Mohammad Al-Ahmad, AMAN Coalition for Integrity and Accountability Executive Director Isam Haj Hussein, and AMAN Board of Directors Adviser Azmi Al-Shuaibi.
Mustafa highlighted the significant progress and determination in implementing the institutional development and reform program despite the difficulties, obstacles and measures imposed by the Israeli occupation. He stressed the government's commitment to partnership, openness, consultation and dialogue with civil society organizations and international partners.
He said the efforts have contributed to the development and enactment of laws and regulations, strengthened governance and transparency, enhanced national institutions, improved public services and reinforced the resilience of the Palestinian people.
Mustafa said the ongoing genocidal war against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip remains the foremost challenge, stressing the need to end the war, begin rebuilding institutions, and unify Gaza and the West Bank under the jurisdiction of the State of Palestine.
Meantime, Valérian commended the government's efforts to implement its development and reform program, as well as its openness and partnership with civil society organizations to strengthen oversight, transparency and governance despite the challenges it faces. He reaffirmed Transparency International's support for these efforts.
Around two years ago, Transparency International adopted a resolution affirming that the Israeli occupation, in its various contexts and locations, contributes to and enables corruption and constitutes a major obstacle to reform processes undertaken by institutions in different parts of the world.
