Weather: Extremely hot conditions expected

 

RAMALLAH, August 20, 2026 (WAFA) — The Palestinian Meteorological Department forecast hot weather today, Thursday, in mountainous areas and extremely hot conditions in the rest of the areas, with high humidity in most regions.

Temperatures are expected to rise further, reaching around 4°C above their annual average. Winds will be northwesterly, light to moderate in speed, and sea waves will be light to moderate.

During the evening and overnight hours, weather will be mild in mountainous areas and warm elsewhere. Winds will be northwesterly, light to moderate in speed, occasionally becoming active, while sea waves will be light to moderate.

On Friday, extremely hot weather is expected, with high humidity in most areas. Temperatures will rise slightly further, reaching around 5°C above their annual average. Winds will be northwesterly, light to moderate in speed, and sea waves will be light to moderate.

Additionally on Saturday, hot weather is expected in mountainous areas and extremely hot conditions elsewhere, with high humidity in most areas. Temperatures will drop slightly but remain around 3°C above their annual average. Winds will be westerly to northwesterly, light to moderate in speed, and sea waves will be light to moderate.

On Sunday, hot weather is expected in mountainous areas and extremely hot conditions elsewhere, with high humidity in most areas. Little change in temperatures is expected, with temperatures remaining around 3°C above their annual average. Winds will be westerly to northwesterly, light to moderate in speed, and sea waves will be light to moderate.

The Meteorological Department warned residents of Jericho and the Jordan Valley against prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, particularly during peak hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the risk of starting fires in areas with abundant dry grass, and leaving children or elderly people inside closed vehicles.
