GAZA, August 15, 2026 (WAFA) — Medical sources in the Gaza Strip on Saturday warned of an unprecedented health catastrophe as the remaining oxygen-generation stations in the enclave face complete depletion of their operating capacity amid the blockade and restrictions imposed by Israel on the delivery of medical supplies to hospitals.

In a press statement, the sources said only 12 of the 34 oxygen-generation stations remain operational under extremely difficult technical conditions, hampering efforts to meet the basic needs of health facilities and medical service providers.

They said the remaining stations are operating beyond their maximum capacity while facing increasingly frequent mechanical failures.

Only four of the 30 oxygen cylinder-filling machines remain operational, the sources said, warning that they could stop at any time because emergency maintenance cannot be carried out due to a lack of resources and restrictions on the entry of spare parts.

The sources stressed that oxygen is a critical lifeline for vital and life-saving hospital departments as well as patients receiving care at home.

They called for the immediate opening of crossings to allow technical equipment and spare parts into Gaza and for the urgent delivery of new oxygen-generation stations to avert an imminent humanitarian catastrophe.
