RAMALLAH, August 7, 2026 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Presidency welcomed Saudi Arabia’s launch of a multinational maritime defense coalition to safeguard freedom of navigation.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Presidency affirmed that the initiative reflects a firm commitment to strengthening international cooperation to safeguard global security and stability and protect the shared interests of countries.

The Presidency praised the role played by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, in launching initiatives aimed at enhancing international security and fostering effective international partnerships to address common security challenges, in a manner that contributes to protecting global trade flows and ensuring the safety of maritime navigation in accordance with international law.

The Presidency stressed that maintaining the security of maritime routes and freedom of navigation is a fundamental element in supporting global economic stability and promoting international peace and security, noting that international cooperation remains the most effective means of addressing security challenges and establishing a safer and more stable environment.

The Presidency reiterated its support for all initiatives aimed at enhancing regional and international security and stability, expressing hope that the coalition would contribute to broadening the scope of international cooperation in a manner that serves the security of the region and the world, while strengthening efforts to establish a just and comprehensive peace leading to the Palestinian people’s attainment of their legitimate national rights, foremost among them the establishment of their fully sovereign, independent State, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
