RAMALLAH, August 7, 2026 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Presidency welcomed the signing of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Republic of Türkiye, and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Presidency considered the agreement an important strategic step that would enhance security, stability, and cooperation among the countries of the Islamic world, while consolidating the principles of solidarity and unity of security and destiny in confronting common challenges and threats.
The Presidency expressed its appreciation to the leaders of the three countries for this significant step, affirming that enhancing the capabilities of the countries of the Islamic world and strengthening their integration and cooperation in protecting their security, sovereignty, and legitimate interests constitute a fundamental pillar of regional stability and the preservation of their peoples' resources.
The Presidency affirmed the State of Palestine's aspiration that the Mecca Agreement would serve as a starting point for strengthening the Arab and Islamic collective security system, contributing to the protection of the countries, peoples, and holy sites of the region, while supporting the rights of the Palestinian people and their legitimate struggle to end the Israeli occupation and achieve their fully sovereign, independent State, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
