Israeli forces detain Palestinian woman during raid on Qalandia refugee camp

JERUSALEM, August 5, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli forces detained Kifah Hamad, 43, on Wednesday after raiding her home in Qalandiya refugee camp, north of occupied Jerusalem.

Local sources in the camp reported that an Israeli army force stormed Hamad's home, forcibly breaking down the door. They assaulted family members, verbally abused them, restrained her husband, and took Hamad to an isolated room.

The sources added that the soldiers seized Hamad's identity card before informing her family of her detention, despite her having a broken leg and wearing a medical cast.

Kifah Hamad works as an educational counselor at Qubayba Girls' Secondary School. She holds a master's degree and is a mother of three: two sons and a daughter.

Hamad's detention comes amidst the ongoing Israeli aggression against Qalandiya camp, which has so far resulted in dozens of arrests and widespread house raids and searches.
