President Abbas: Legislative elections to be held as scheduled on November 28

RAMALLAH, August 3, 2026 (WAFA) — President Mahmoud Abbas said on Monday that the Palestinian legislative elections will be held as scheduled on November 28, 2026, describing the vote as a national and democratic entitlement that reflects the will of the Palestinian people.

The remarks came during a meeting at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah with the Chairman of the Central Elections Commission, Rami Hamdallah.

Hamdallah briefed the President on the latest logistical, technical and administrative preparations for the elections, including updating the voter registry, preparing polling stations, and other arrangements. He said the commission is proceeding according to the approved timetable in coordination with all relevant parties to ensure the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.

President Abbas reaffirmed his full support for the work and independence of the Central Elections Commission, stressing the importance of holding the legislative elections on schedule.

He also underscored the need for all parties to work together to ensure the elections are conducted with integrity and transparency, saying this would strengthen national unity and reinforce the principles of political pluralism and democracy.
