QALQILIA, July 24, 2026 (WAFA) — Israeli colonists attacked areas near the villages of Jit, east of Qalqilia, and Tell, south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, on Friday, attempting to damage and set fire to Palestinian property, according to local sources.

Jamal Yamin, head of the Jit village council, told WAFA that hundreds of colonists from the Gilead colonial outpost attacked the area at around 10:30 a.m. and attempted to break and burn Palestinian property as residents tried to confront them.

He added that Israeli occupation soldiers arrived at the scene and fired tear gas grenades at residents, causing several Palestinians to suffer suffocation.

Yamin said colonist attacks in the area have significantly escalated recently, with daily assaults involving their presence in the area, throwing stones at Palestinian homes, burning agricultural land, and seizing land.

He noted that Jit village is surrounded by Israeli colonies from all directions, including Kedumim to the west, Mitzpe Yishai and Ma'ale Shomron to the south, and Givat Gilad to the east, while the main road north of the village remains the residents' only access route.

During the first half of 2026, Israeli colonists carried out 3,488 attacks, ranging from assaults on Palestinian villages and residents, setting fire to homes, shooting at Palestinians, establishing colonial outposts, seizing Palestinian land, and attacking roads and vehicles, according to the Wall and Colonization Resistance Commission.

Earlier on Friday, Israeli occupation forces and colonists carried out a deadly attack in the town of Tell, killing four Palestinians from the same family and injuring four others, including three critically injured, as residents confronted a colonist attack.

On Thursday, three Palestinians, including a child, were also killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank.
