JENIN, Monday, July 20, 2026 (WAFA) – A young Palestinian from Jenin City on Monday succumbed to wounds he had sustained after being shot by Israeli occupation forces over three years ago.

Hani Farahati told WAFA that his nephew, Ashraf Mahmoud Najib Farahati, 19, died of a gunshot wound to the head inflicted by Israeli occupation forces in the course of the killing of two Palestinians, Nidal Khazem and Youssef Shreim, on March 16, 2023. A third Palestinian, identified as Omar Awadin, was also killed and 18 others were injured on that day.

He added that Farahati had a long battle with injuries sustained from Israeli forces and underwent prolonged medical treatment in hospitals in Palestine and Jordan before he was pronounced dead on Monday due to his injuries.

Farahati’s case, along with two other Palestinian children, was documented by Defense for Children International – Palestine in 2023.

The funeral arrangements will be held once the body arrives from Jordan, which is expected on Tuesday, after which he will be laid to rest at a cemetery in the eastern neighborhood of Jenin.
