EU foreign ministers to discuss ban on imports from Israeli settlements

RAMALLAH, July 11, 2026 (WAFA) – European Union foreign ministers are set to discuss a ban on imports from Israeli settlements next Monday, following pressure from several member states for the bloc to take action.

Diplomats suggested that the discussion at the meeting in Brussels on Monday would help gauge the level of support for moving forward with such measures.

Several EU countries, including Ireland, the Netherlands, and Spain, have already imposed their own trade restrictions on Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, which are considered illegal under international law.

Under increasing pressure on the bloc to take action, options for limiting trade with the settlements, including a ban, were discussed this week.

A dispute is ongoing within the EU over whether such a measure would require unanimity among the 27 member states or could be passed by a qualified majority.
