RAMALLAH, July 5, 2026 (WAFA) – The Palestinian Prisoner's Society said on Sunday that Israel’s detention system continues to entrench a systematic policy of documenting and publishing images and videos of torture and abuse against Palestinian prisoners, calling it a blatant expression of brutality and the use of torture as a means of public humiliation.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Society said Israeli authorities have continued to release photos and video clips showing severe repression and grave violations against detainees, including acts of systematic humiliation and practices that amount to crimes against humanity.
The statement referred to a recently circulated image of a detainee from the Gaza Strip appearing naked and restrained in a brutal manner, calling it a shocking scene that reflects extreme degradation and forms part of a broader pattern of violations accompanying the ongoing war.
It added that Israeli soldiers are the primary source of much of the recorded material documenting abuse against prisoners. While Israel has attempted to present such incidents as isolated cases, the organization said field data and testimonies from prisoners indicate that these actions are part of an institutional policy involving multiple levels of the Israeli system.
The statement also criticized videos published by hard-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, saying they contribute to normalizing these practices and reinforcing a culture of impunity by encouraging the public dissemination of alleged abuse.
The Prisoner's Society renewed its call on the international community and human rights organizations to assume their legal and moral responsibilities and urgently act to end what it described as a policy of impunity that enables ongoing violations, particularly against Palestinian prisoners.
