JENIN, July 3, 2026 (WAFA) – The Palestinian government announced on Friday that it has secured funding to complete 106 development projects in the Jenin governorate worth more than $32 million, while also preparing to rehabilitate partially damaged homes and continue strategic investments in water, electricity, and infrastructure.
The announcement came during a field visit by a ministerial delegation to the governorate, carried out under the directives of Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa.
The government said the projects include the completion of 106 infrastructure initiatives supported by international donors, preparations to rehabilitate homes that sustained minor to moderate damage in Jenin city and surrounding areas through German funding administered by the United Nations, the upcoming tender for the rehabilitation of the Zabda–Dhahr al-Abed road, completion of the design for the 11-kilometer Beit Qad–Faqqu'a road, and continued planning for the 4.5-kilometer Nazareth Road.
In the water sector, the government said strategic projects are underway to improve water supply and wastewater services, including a $51 million World Bank-funded bulk water system and distribution network serving villages northeast of Jenin and benefiting around 120,000 residents. Additional projects include the near completion of the €3.5 million rehabilitation of the Janzour well, a $14.5 million German-funded water network improvement program, and wastewater infrastructure projects in Misilyah.
The government also announced the recent signing of a €35 million French-funded wastewater treatment plant that will serve eight villages west of Jenin and benefit approximately 90,000 residents.
In the energy sector, the Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority is continuing the installation of solar power generation and storage systems at public health facilities, including Khalil Suleiman Government Hospital and al-Basateen Clinic. The government also highlighted ongoing upgrades to electricity infrastructure, including medium-voltage transmission lines and network rehabilitation projects worth more than 6.14 million shekels.
Additional initiatives include agricultural support programs aimed at strengthening farmers' resilience through the rehabilitation of agricultural roads, water reservoirs, irrigation systems, and the provision of farming inputs, alongside employment and vocational training programs that have benefited 522 people across 17 specialties.
The Ministry of Social Development is also continuing assistance for vulnerable groups, including the distribution of mobility aids for people with disabilities and the completion of a protection center for women and girls.
The ministerial delegation included the ministers of interior, justice, local government, economy, transport, and tourism, as well as senior officials from several government institutions. During the visit, the delegation met with representatives of public institutions, the private sector, local authorities, universities, and community organizations to review the governorate's development needs and inspect a number of infrastructure and public service projects.
The government said the visit forms part of a broader program of field tours across Palestinian governorates aimed at monitoring development projects, improving public services, and responding directly to citizens' needs.
