ICRC facilitates transfer of 14 released Gaza detainees to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital

GAZA, June 28, 2026 (WAFA) – The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on Sunday facilitated the transfer of 14 detainees released by the Israeli occupation authorities from the Kerem Shalom crossing to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the central Gaza Strip, while also helping them re-establish contact and reunite with their families.

In a statement, the ICRC said it has facilitated the transfer of more than 2,500 released detainees through this mechanism since 2023.

The organization noted that it has been unable to access Palestinian detainees held in Israeli detention facilities since October 2023, reiterating its call to be informed of the fate and whereabouts of all detainees and to be granted access to visit them.

The ICRC stressed that international humanitarian law requires that detainees be treated humanely, held in adequate conditions, and allowed to maintain contact with their families.

It added that many Palestinian families are still awaiting information about their detained relatives amid growing concerns over their health and safety, emphasizing that it continues its dialogue with the Israeli authorities with the aim of resuming visits to all Palestinian detainees.
