Arab League, African Union, OIC condemn Israeli annexation, settlement plans in occupied Palestinian territory

RAMALLAH, June 24, 2026 (WAFA) – The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, and the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation strongly condemned the continuation of Israeli annexation and settlement schemes in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, in particular the 'E1' settlement scheme and the forced displacement of the Bedouin community of 'Al-Khan al-Ahmar' east of occupied Jerusalem.

The heads of the three organizations reaffirmed their rejection of these invalid measures; as Israel's settlement policy constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

The heads of the three organizations also reaffirmed their rejection of Israel’s violation of the basic rights and freedoms of the Palestinian people including through operating an apartheid system that discriminates based on race and religion.

They called  on the international community to assume its legal and political responsibilities and to take effective steps to provide international protection for the Palestinian people and to halt all Israeli occupation policies based on annexation, displacement, siege and colonial settlement, as these constitute ethnic cleansing and war crimes under international law, the United Nations Charter and relevant UN resolutions, which threaten to undermine the prospects for peace based on the two-state solution and constitute a direct violation of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their inalienable right to self- determination and to establish their independent state within the 1967 borders, with east Jerusalem as its capital.

The heads of the three organizations also expressed their rejection and condemnation of the illegal measures taken by the Israeli occupation authorities against international non-governmental organizations, in particular the enactment of unlawful laws against them, the refusal to register them, the criminalization of their activities, the confiscation of their property, and the targeting of their staff, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, the Advisory Opinion of the International Court of Justice of 22 October 2025 concerning the obligations of Israel in relation to the presence and activities of the UN, other international organizations and third States in and in relation to the Occupied Palestinian Territory and relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

They emphasize the vital role of international non-governmental organizations and specialized United Nations agencies, particularly UNRWA, as integral to the required humanitarian response and key partners in providing relief, early recovery, development, and reconstruction services.

The heads of the three organizations called upon the Israeli occupation authorities to immediately, fully, and unconditionally lift all restrictions imposed on the work of international non-governmental organizations, and to commit to respecting and protecting all staff of United Nations agencies and relief, humanitarian, medical, and media organizations, a s well as their facilities and operations in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

The heads of the three organizations also called upon the International Community to exert pressure on the Israeli occupation to cease the misappropriation of financial resources due to the State of Palestine, and to compel it to immediately and unconditionally release all tax funds unlawfully withheld, thereby enabling the Government of the State of Palestine to fulfil its duties and obligations towards the Palestinian people and to strengthen their resilience on

their land.
