Pakistan announces US-Iran peace agreement, signing set for Friday in Switzerland

ISLAMABAD, June 15, 2026 (WAFA) – Pakistan's Prime Minister announced early Monday that a peace agreement had been reached between the United States and Iran following intensive talks, providing for an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, a position also announced by both the US and Iranian sides.

The Pakistani premier said the official signing ceremony between Washington and Tehran will take place next Friday in Switzerland.

As part of the implementation process, he noted that mediators will facilitate a series of meetings throughout the week once the agreement enters into force, with the aim of paving the way for the implementation of its provisions and ensuring compliance by all parties.

US President Donald Trump announced the successful completion of the peace agreement with Iran, stating that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened on Friday following the formal signing of the ceasefire agreement. He also announced the immediate lifting of the US naval blockade, without fees, and called on global shipping to resume the flow of oil.

Meanwhile, Iran's Supreme National Security Council said the final text of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States had been completed and confirmed that it would be signed on Friday. The council stressed that the war and military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, would end immediately and permanently, coinciding with the complete and immediate lifting of the naval blockade imposed on Iran.
