Presidency warns escalating colonist attacks threaten regional stability efforts

RAMALLAH, June 5, 2026 (WAFA) -- Nabil Abu Rudeineh, spokesman for President Mahmoud Abbas, warned on Friday of the growing danger posed by escalating attacks by Israeli colonists against Palestinians across cities, towns and refugee camps in the occupied West Bank.

In a statement, Abu Rudeineh said the systematic escalation threatens to undermine international efforts aimed at achieving stability in the region.

He held Israeli authorities responsible for the serious consequences of what he described as terrorist attacks carried out by colonists under the protection and support of the Israeli army, saying they form part of a broader policy designed to impose faits accomplis and entrench the occupation.

Abu Rudeineh added that the region would continue to suffer from recurring wars and instability unless a comprehensive and just solution to the Palestinian question is achieved on the basis of international legitimacy resolutions and international law, fulfilling the Palestinian people's aspirations for freedom and independence in an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He called on the international community, particularly the United States administration, to intervene immediately and compel Israel to halt its aggressive policies, stop colonial settlement activities in all forms on Palestinian land, and end colonist violence.

The presidential spokesperson stressed that the Palestinian people will remain committed to their land and legitimate national rights, and that policies of violence and colonization will not succeed in breaking their will or forcing them to abandon their aspirations for freedom and independence.
