Colonists set fire to land in al-Karmil village south of Hebron

HEBRON, May 18, 2026 (WAFA) – Colonists, under the protection of Israeli forces, set fire to Palestinian-owned land in the village of al-Karmil, south of Hebron, according to a local activist.

Anti-colonization activist Osama Makhamreh told WAFA that colonists ignited fires in residents’ land in the Umm Nir area in al-Karmil. Civil Defence volunteers in the villages of al-Tuwani and Susya in Masafer Yatta rushed to contain and extinguish the fires.

In a separate development, an anti-colonization activist said that the occupation authorities recently handed Palestinian residents of the Umm Qassa community in Masafer Yatta 15 stop-work notices targeting homes, dwellings, and facilities.
