NABLUS, MAY 18, 2026 (WAFA) – Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Hani Al-Hayek and Minister of Culture Imad Hamdan stressed the importance of governmental efforts, in partnership with relevant stakeholders, to include the town of Sebastia, in the Nablus Governorate, on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Al-Hayek said that listing the archaeological site as a World Heritage Site will constitute a significant addition to Palestinian sites already listed, contributing to the protection of Palestinian archaeological sites and attracting tourist groups from around the world.
For his part, Hamdan highlighted the importance of Sebastia as an integral part of the Palestinian historical narrative, affirming the Ministry of Culture’s readiness to provide all forms of support and cooperation to ensure the success of efforts to inscribe Sebastia on the World Heritage List.
