GAZA, May 18, 2026 (WAFA) – Medical sources in the Gaza Strip warned of the worsening suffering of hypertension patients, with approximately 225,000 facing increasing risks due to medication shortages and the deterioration of health services.
They indicated that the prolonged suspension of routine checkups hinders early detection and management of the disease, while the destruction of primary care centers has led to a lack of diagnosis and medical follow-up.
They added that the lack of a healthy, balanced diet and the deteriorating environmental conditions exacerbate the disease, in a polluted and unsanitary environment.
They also warned that repeated displacement and the psychological stress resulting from war, poverty, and unemployment increase the likelihood of serious complications and sudden strokes.
