GAZA, May 17, 2026 (WAFA) – One civilian was killed and others were injured on Sunday evening in an Israeli strike on Deir al-Balah, in the central Gaza Strip.

WAFA correspondent reported that an Israeli drone targeted a group of citizens in Al-Baraka Street, south of Deir al-Balah city, resulting in one person being killed and several others injured.

Although a ceasefire in Gaza went into effect on October 11, 2025, the death toll in the Gaza Strip has continued to rise, reaching 72,763, mostly women and children, since the beginning of the Israeli aggression in October 2023. At least 172,664 others have also been injured.

Since the ceasefire went into effect on October 11, 2025, the number of those killed and injured has reached 871 and 2,562, respectively. At least 776 bodies have also been recovered from under the rubble.
