Occupation forces Palestinian to demolish his own room in Silwan

JERUSALEM, May 12, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities forced a Palestinian resident to demolish his own room in the Silwan neighborhood, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque, on Tuesday.

The Jerusalem Governorate explained in a statement that the occupation authorities forced Jalal al-Taweel, a resident of Jerusalem, to demolish his own room in the al-Bustan area of ​​Silwan, under the pretext of building without a permit.

Al-Taweel said that the room was 70 square meters and had been standing since 1975, but the Israeli municipality forced him to demolish it himself to avoid hefty fines and the costs of forced demolition.

The Israeli occupation authorities force Palestinians in occupied Jerusalem to demolish their own homes under the pretext of lacking permits. Those who refuse have their homes demolished by Israeli bulldozers, and the owners are subjected to hefty fines and the costs of forced demolition.
