Colonists establish new outpost on land of Deir Istiya, northwest Salfit

SALFIT, May 9, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists established a new outpost on Saturday on land belonging to the town of Deir Istiya in the central West Bank province of Salfit, according to local sources.

The sources said colonists placed two mobile caravans on land belonging to Islamic Waqf property west of the town, while also bulldozing parts of the surrounding land.

The colonists additionally extended a water pipeline from the nearby settlement of Revava toward the new outpost, passing through olive-planted Palestinian farmland.

Residents said the move represents a significant escalation in colonist activity in the area, which has seen increasing establishment of pastoral outposts and expansion onto private Palestinian agricultural lands, particularly olive groves, alongside restrictions preventing farmers from accessing their land.
