JERUSALEM, April 25, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities forced a Palestinian citizen on Saturday to demolish his home in the Silwan neighborhood of occupied Jerusalem.
The Jerusalem Governorate said that the municipality compelled Waseem Lutfi Seyam to demolish his home in the Wadi Hilweh area, after issuing a final demolition order giving him 21 days to comply.
Seyam said the house, built around 20 years ago and covering about 140 square meters, consists of two apartments housing his family and his mother.
He added that he was surprised by the demolition order and had appealed to court to try to stop it without success. He said he faced extremely difficult conditions, with no alternative housing or storage options, noting that his mother suffers from pulmonary failure and that he himself has a work-related injury.
He also said he was fined around 200,000 shekels, which ultimately forced him to begin evacuating and demolishing the home himself.
