Colonists assault farmers, fire tear gas near Beit Iksa, northwest of Jerusalem

RAMALLAH, April 25, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli colonists attacked Palestinian farmers on Saturday evening in their lands in the village of Beit Iksa, northwest of Jerusalem, firing dozens of tear gas canisters at them under the protection of Israeli forces.

Farmer Abdel Karim Hamayel said colonists assaulted him while he was plowing his land in the Khirbet Samri area near the village, adding that the heavy use of tear gas caused suffocation cases among farmers.

Witnesses reported that Israeli forces provided protection to the colonists and prevented residents from accessing their lands, amid an escalation of attacks in the area.

On March 11, colonists began establishing a new outpost on the lands of the village. Since then, they have carried out land leveling, set up structures, blocked agricultural roads used by residents, and have threatened locals at gunpoint to stay away.

The village of Beit Iksa has witnessed increasing colonist attacks, alongside Israeli measures that have isolated the area and restricted residents' movement and access to their agricultural lands.
