Israeli forces deliver demolition notices against stores near Jenin

JENIN, April 20, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces on Monday evening delivered demolition notices against stores in Jaba' town, south of the occupied West Bank city of Jenin, according to local sources.

They reported that the occupying forces barged their way into the town and posted military orders, notifying several storeowners of the imminent demolition of their stores on the main street, purportedly for being in proximity to the site of the re-established colony of Tarsala.

On Sunday, the occupation authorities re-established a colony in the Palestinian village of Sanur, 20 years after it was dismantled as part of Israel’s withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, marking an acceleration of colonial-settlement expansion in the occupied West Bank, which has risen sharply since the start of Israel’s genocide in Gaza in 2023.

Several Knesset members and Israeli ministers, including Israeli ‘Defence’ Minister Israel Katz and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, participated in the ceremony celebrating the restoration of the colony.

On 12 April, the occupation forces issued a notice to seize about 8,950 m2 of land belonging to the Fandaqumiya village, south of Jenin, for military purposes, as confirmed by the PLO’s National Bureau for Defending Land.

It noted that the targeted land is located near the settlement of Tarsala, which the occupation is currently rebuilding. It lies north of the village on the main road and borders the lands of the towns of Ajja and Jaba’, south of Jenin, and is planted with olive trees.
