AL-BIREH, April 20, 2026 (WAFA) - The Central Elections Commission (CEC) announced the closure of accreditation for observer bodies and their representatives for the 2026 Local Elections, as well as media organizations that will cover the elections scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2026, in 183 local authorities.
The CEC indicated that the number of accredited local observer bodies reached 69, with 2,533 observers (F/M) representing them, in addition to 125 guest and international observers.
Concerning media organizations, the CEC clarified that 113 media organizations were accredited, 14 of which are international, with 740 journalists (F/M) either representing those organizations or working as freelancers.
Furthermore, the CEC pointed out that all information and figures of interest to journalists and observers have been published on its website, including the names and locations of the local authorities involved in polling.
The CEC emphasized its organized and continuous work and efforts to finalize all necessary arrangements for the local elections, indicating readiness to open 491 polling centers on Saturday morning, 12 of which are in Deir al-Balah in Gaza.
Regarding the local elections scheduled for next Saturday, the CEC stated that the number of eligible voters in the participating local authorities exceeds one million (F/M), according to the final voters’ registry.
