GAZA, April 19, 2026 (WAFA) – A young Palestinian man was shot and killed by Israeli forces last night northwest of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

WAFA correspondent, citing medical sources, reported that Yousef Hassan was killed by gunfire from Israeli military vehicles stationed northwest of Rafah. His body was transferred to Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis.

Earlier, a child was injured by Israeli gunfire in the Mawasi area. Medical sources also announced the death of Ahmed Hani Obeid, 25, who succumbed to wounds he sustained in an Israeli strike on northern Gaza about a year ago.

Medical sources in the Gaza Strip said the death toll from the Israeli offensive since October 2023, has risen to 72,549 people, with 172,274 others injured.

They added that since the ceasefire on October 11 last year, the number of fatalities has reached 773, with 2,171 injuries, while 761 bodies have been recovered from under the rubble.

The sources noted that a number of victims remain trapped beneath the debris or lying in the streets, as ambulance and rescue crews are still unable to reach them.
