TUBAS, April 7, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces detained Fawaz Anbousi, head of the Tubas Municipality's steering committee, on Tuesday evening.
Local sources told WAFA that occupation forces raided Anbousi's home during an incursion into the city of Tubas, vandalizing his furniture and belongings before detaining him.
The Israeli occupation forces had also raided several areas in the Tubas Governorate.
The same sources reported that the occupation forces stormed the city of Tubas, the town of Tammoun, and the vicinity of the al-Far'a refugee camp with a number of military vehicles, and raided several homes.
Meanwhile, the Tubas Municipality condemned the detention of its steering committee head, Fawaz Anbousi, following the raid on his home, the destruction of its contents, and the terrorizing of its residents.
The municipality stated that this blatant attack constitutes a flagrant violation of all international laws and norms, and a clear targeting of national leaders and civil institutions working to serve our people and strengthen their resilience in the face of difficult circumstances.
The Tubas Municipality affirmed that these practices will not deter it from continuing to fulfill its national and humanitarian duty towards the city's residents, but rather will strengthen its resolve to continue serving citizens and bolstering their steadfastness.
The municipality also called upon local and international human rights and humanitarian organizations to intervene urgently to put an end to these repeated violations and to work to provide protection for Palestinian civilians and institutions.
