ANKARA, April 7, 2026 (WAFA) – The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem by the extremist Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the ministry said: “We strongly condemn the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by an Israeli minister, stressing that the violations and provocations by (Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu’s government, which target the historical and legal identity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, a holy site dedicated solely to Muslims, are unacceptable.”
The statement added: “We remind the international community that ensuring the opening of Al-Aqsa Mosque to Muslims for prayer and lifting all restrictions that impede freedom of worship in the holy sites of East Jerusalem is a shared responsibility.”
