Israeli forces detain young man from Bethlehem-area refugee camp, set up checkpoint

 

BETHLEHEM, April 7, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces detained a young man from Dheisheh refugee camp, south of Bethlehem, on Tuesday, and set up a military checkpoint at the northern entrance to the city.

Security sources told WAFA that the occupation forces detained 22-year-old Luay Yousef Salim after raiding and searching his family's home in Dheisheh camp.

Meanwhile, occupation forces raided Aida and al-Azza refugee camps to the north and the city of Beit Jala to the west, but no house raids or detentions were reported.

The occupation forces also set up a military checkpoint near the Bilal bin Rabah Mosque at the northern entrance to Bethlehem, where they stopped and searched vehicles and checked the IDs of Palestinian citizens. No detentions were reported.
