Israel forces Jerusalem resident to demolish his own house

JERUSALEM, April 6, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities forced a Jerusalemite resident to demolish his own home in the Silwan neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem on Monday evening.

The Jerusalem Governorate reported that the occupation authorities forced Khalil Abdul Badran to demolish his home in the al-Bustan area of Silwan to avoid hefty fines that the Israeli municipality would impose if it carried out the demolition.

The Governorate added that the house, built in 2018, is approximately 100 square meters and houses four family members. It noted that the municipality had imposed fines totaling 48,000 shekels on Badran since 2023 as part of a policy of pressuring Jerusalemites to demolish their own homes to avoid exorbitant fines.

The occupation authorities continue to implement house demolition policies in the town of Silwan, especially in the Al-Bustan neighborhood, as part of plans targeting the Palestinian presence in the holy city.
