Foreign Minister urges support for resolutions on Palestine at UN Human Rights Council

RAMALLAH, March 26, 2026 (WAFA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Varsen Aghabekian on Thursday urged ambassadors and representatives of countries that are members of the United Nations Human Rights Council accredited to the State of Palestine to vote in favor of resolutions related to Palestine.

During the meeting held in Ramallah, Aghabekian stressed the importance of mobilizing international support and called on states to back resolutions concerning Palestine at the Human Rights Council amid the difficult circumstances facing the Palestinian people due to ongoing violations by Israeli forces, settlement expansion, and escalating attacks by settlers against Palestinian civilians.

The minister also expressed appreciation to countries that adopt supportive positions toward Palestinian rights, emphasizing that the rights of the Palestinian people are guaranteed under international law and norms, as well as the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice.

She added that this requires states to take practical steps to protect these rights, which Palestine continues to advocate for within United Nations institutions, including the Human Rights Council.
