PM Mustafa discusses political developments with EU envoy

RAMALLAH, March 26, 2026 (WAFA) – Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa met on Thursday with the European Union’s special representative for the Middle East peace process, Christophe Bigot, to discuss the latest political developments and the situation on the ground in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

The meeting, held in Ramallah, was attended by Finance and Planning Minister Estephan Salameh. Mustafa stressed the importance of intensifying international efforts and pressure on Israel to halt the dangerous escalation in the West Bank, particularly attacks by Israeli colonists, as well as Israeli measures including obstacles and checkpoints restricting the movement of people and goods.

He also pointed to Israel's continued withholding of Palestinian tax revenues for nearly a year, which he said is worsening humanitarian and economic needs and affecting the government’s ability to meet its obligations.

The Prime Minister added that regional conflicts should not divert attention from the Gaza Strip, stressing the importance of advancing the initiative proposed by Donald Trump and implementing relevant United Nations resolutions.

He also emphasized the need to proceed with recovery and reconstruction plans, ensure an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and unify institutions in Gaza and the West Bank under the State of Palestine.

The two sides also discussed the agenda of a donor meeting scheduled to be held next month in Brussels, and ways to ensure its success amid difficult conditions and financial constraints, as well as efforts to mobilize greater international pressure to stop Israel’s withholding of Palestinian clearance revenues.
