Egyptian, Jordanian FMs say focus on war with Iran shouldn't come at expense of ending Gaza humanitarian catastrophe

CAIRO, March 24, 2026 (WAFA) – Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs, Ayman Safadi, and Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Expatriates, Badr Abdel-Aty, stated that the international focus on a war with Iran should not come at the expense of efforts to end the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

In a phone call on Tuesday, they stressed the need to halt illegal Israeli measures in the West Bank, which undermine all opportunities for achieving a just peace.

The two ministers reiterated their condemnation of the attacks by Israeli colonists against the Palestinian people, which constitute a blatant violation of international law and a dangerous escalation that requires concerted international efforts to stop.

The two ministers also condemned Israel’s continued violation of the right to worship for Muslims and Christians in the occupied Palestinian territory, and its prevention of worshippers from practicing their religious rites in their holy sites.

Safadi and Abdel-Aati condemned Israel’s aggression against Lebanon and its expansionist policies in the region, and stressed their absolute solidarity in protecting Arab national security and their commitment to activating joint Arab action to confront common challenges.
