Despite ceasefire, Gaza death surges to 72,263 since October 2023

RAMALLAH, March 23, 2026 (WAFA) – Although a ceasefire in Gaza went into effect on October 11, the death toll in the Gaza Strip has continued to rise, reaching 72,263, mostly women and children, since the beginning of the Israeli aggression in October 2023. At least 171,944 others have also been injured.

This toll remains incomplete, as many victims remain trapped under rubble, inaccessible to ambulance and rescue crews.

Medical sources said that the bodies of nine Palestinians, including one who died from his injuries, and 30 causalities, arrived at hospitals in the Gaza Strip during the days of Eid al-Fitr.

Since the ceasefire went into effect on October 11, the number of those killed and injured has reached 687and 1,845, respectively. At least 756 bodies have also been recovered from under the rubble.
