Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling target southern Lebanon and Beirut's Dahiyeh district

BEIRUT, March 21, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces launched a series of airstrikes and artillery shelling at dawn on Saturday targeting several areas in southern Lebanon and the Dahiyeh district of Beirut, killing one person, injuring others, and causing damage to homes and property.

Local sources reported that Israeli warplanes struck a house in the town of Kafra, resulting in injuries, while a powerful airstrike targeted a home in Al-Ghandourieh, killing one Lebanese and injuring two others who were pulled from under the rubble.

The sources added that Israeli warplanes carried out two strikes on the Dahiyeh district of Beirut, targeting the areas of Ghobeiry and Borj el-Barajneh, while artillery shelling targeted the towns of Naqoura and Hammoul in the Tyre district, with renewed heavy artillery bombardment later hitting Naqoura.

Meanwhile, after midnight Israeli warplanes struck buildings and commercial shops on Al-Arid Street in the Al-Housh area, injuring three civilians. Another strike targeted the area between the towns of Ansar and Zrariyeh, although the missile reportedly did not explode.

Israeli forces also carried out extensive machine-gun fire in the town of Khiam, alongside continued artillery shelling targeting several southern Lebanese towns.

In the same context, the Israeli army issued a warning to residents of Beirut's Dahiyeh district, including the neighborhoods of Haret Hreik, Ghobeiry, Laylaki, Hadath, Borj el-Barajneh, Tahwitat al-Ghadir, and Chiyah, calling for immediate evacuation.
