JERUSALEM, March 17, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation forces prevented worshippers on Tuesday evening from performing Tarawih prayers in several neighborhoods of occupied Jerusalem, as the closure of the Al-Aqsa Mosque continues.
Local sources reported that Israeli forces deployed around Bab Al-Amud and Bab Al-Sahera, as well as in the vicinity of Al-Rashidiya School, preventing worshippers from performing Tarawih prayers and forcing them to leave the area.
They added that Israeli forces pushed worshippers toward the Wadi al-Joz neighborhood in an attempt to disperse them and prevent any prayer gatherings.
In the same context, Israeli forces fired tear gas canisters at the entrance of Souq al-Jumaa, causing tension in the area.
These measures come amid ongoing military restrictions across Jerusalem, particularly around the Old City of Jerusalem, and the continued prevention of worshippers from reaching the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
