JERUSALEM, March 8, 2026 (WAFA) – The “Temple” extremist Israeli groups have intensified their campaign to promote the so-called “Passover sacrifice” inside Al-Aqsa Mosque, exploiting its continued closure, which Israeli authorities have maintained throughout Ramadan, citing a state of emergency.

The campaign aims to carry out animal sacrifices inside Al-Aqsa Mosque during the Jewish Passover, scheduled from April 1 to 8, 2026—approximately 12 days after Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan.

In this context, the Jerusalem Governorate reported that Elkana Wolfson, affiliated with the so-called “Temple Mount Religious School” and son of its rabbi, Elisha Wolfson, released an AI-generated advertisement depicting a sacrificial feast after the slaughter of the animal and portraying the alleged “Temple” in place of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Meanwhile, the so-called “Temple Institute” published an image of an animal sacrifice feast with the Dome of the Rock in the background, depicting a religious altar in front of it and accompanied by a caption stating: “Establishing the temple within one month may be difficult, but building the altar and renewing the sacrifice is certainly possible.”, clearly signaling an attempt to carry out the sacrifice inside Al-Aqsa Mosque this year.

The Governorate noted that this follows serious precedents in 2025, when three attempts were made to bring small animals or pieces of meat from a slaughtered animal into Al-Aqsa Mosque, marking unprecedented developments since the occupation of Jerusalem.

These developments indicate an escalating effort by “Temple” groups to impose animal sacrifice inside Al-Aqsa, amid the growing influence of religious Zionist elements within the Israeli police, especially following the appointment of extremist Avshalom Peled as Jerusalem police commander ahead of Ramadan.

Israeli authorities have kept Al-Aqsa Mosque closed for the ninth consecutive day, citing a declared state of emergency and deploying heavy forces around the mosque and the gates of the Old City of occupied Jerusalem.
