Israeli authorities continue closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque for eighth straight day

JERUSALEM, March 7, 2026 (WAFA) – Israeli occupation authorities, for the eighth consecutive day, continued the closure of  the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Israeli forces closed the compound last Saturday morning, forcing worshippers to leave and preventing the performance of the Isha and Taraweeh prayers. This coincided with a closure imposed on the West Bank, hours after a large-scale attack launched by Israel and the United States against Iran.

On Friday, for the third consecutive week, worshippers were also  barred from performing Friday prayers at the mosque.

Israeli authorities have rarely imposed a full closure of Al-Aqsa by official decision on Fridays, doing so only five times since the occupation of Jerusalem in 1967.
