RAMALLAH, March 5, 2026 (WAFA) – Dozens of Palestinians on Thursday evening suffocated amid heavy tear gas firing by Israeli forces in al-Mughayyir village, northeast of Ramallah, according to Amin Abu Alia, head of the Village Council.
Abu Alia said that a convoy of Israeli army vehicles stormed the village, where the soldiers fired volleys of tear gas canisters at villagers and their houses, causing scores to suffocate.
The occupation forces frequently raid Palestinian houses almost daily across the West Bank on the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians, triggering clashes with residents.
These raids are conducted without the need for a search warrant, whenever and wherever the military chooses, in line with its broad and arbitrary powers.
Under Israeli military law, army commanders have full executive, legislative, and judicial authority over 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank. Palestinians have no say in how this authority is exercised.
